Swaledale North – Planner’s Comments

I’ve just finished checking all of the bridleways and controls for the event on May 12th and, despite the weather, it’s a great area. The gamekeepers are happy that we are using the bridleways during the nesting season but please make sure that you stick to them. Any areas marked out of bounds must be respected as they all contain nesting birds – and they’ve had a hard-enough winter already. I am not using as many of the bridleways as I would have liked as they are still very soft after the snow has melted but there is still plenty of great riding.

The event centre is at the Dales Biking Centre where there is a shop, cafe, showers, bike wash and accommodation. Parking is in the field next to the Bridge Inn at Grinton and you can camp overnight (then pay at registration) as long as you have at least one pint in the Bridge. I don’t have many volunteer helpers yet so if you would like a free ride why not volunteer to help me collect controls in afterwards?

Hope to see you there and some weather and views like this
